さて本書も折り返しを超え第六段！テーマは、”堂々と話せるビジネス表現”！普段英語で仕事することが多いので、注目の一章です。。。！それでは早速見ていきましょう！
今回も以下のように10個ピックアップしてみました！

それではひとつづつ見ていきましょう！どれも1日1回くらい使えてしまいそうな表現です！
①read the situation
空気を読む、という表現。”空気を読む”という比喩的な日本語表現が英語でもreadを使って表されるというのは興味深いですね！
例：I count on him because he knows how to read the situation.
②give in
折れる、諦めるという意味。にた表現だと、Surrender, Yeild to, Back downなどがあります。同じ意味でも複数表現知っていると表現の幅が広がりそうですね。
例：It was a tough negotiation, but they finally gave in.
③reactive
後手後手の、という意味。”先手をとる”という意味のProactiveの反対語。両方合わせて使われるようになりましょう！
例：Our company need to stop being reactive and begin planning beyond an economic downturn.
④tap into the situation
まず、tapという単語の意味を見てみましょう。tapは主に(1)軽く叩く、(2)(メンバー、ある役割として)選出する、(3)(土地や資源を)開発する・うまく利用する、という意味。
この熟語は(3)の意味から来ていて、うまく立ち回る、シチュエーションを利用する、という意味の表現になります。
例：He knows how to tap into the situation for his own benefit.
⑤make it look like
〜という体で、という意味。ビジネスのみならずいろんなシチュエーションで使えそう！
例：Don’t worry. We can make it look like you know nothing about the new project.
⑥jump around
話が飛ぶ、脱線する、という意味。もう少し丁寧な言い方では”Sorry for switching the topic suddenly but~”といった表現もありますが、カジュアルな物も使えると良さそうですね。
例：I tend to jump around when I give a presentation so let me knew if I do.
⑦do~ for the sake of it
手段の目的化。大企業に勤めていると報告とか、特定のデータの収集とか、手段が目的化してしまって実際は誰も参照してない、っていうの、あるあるですよね。
例：No matter what it is, I don’t think you should do thinks for the sake of it.
⑧backfire
もともとはエンジン内で燃えるべきガスがエンジンの外で爆発し、炎が逆流する現象をさす。そこから計画が裏目に出る、思ったような結果にならない、という意味になります。動詞として使われ、無生物が主語になることに注意。
例：It look like things are in our favor, but be careful, this could backfire.
⑨Can we say that~
〜という理解で合ってる？という意味。Please correct I’m wrong but I understand~、とか、Is it correct understanding that〜といった堅め、丁寧めの表現と合わせて覚えておきましょう。
例：Can we say that things are going as planned for the most part so far?
⑩not ignoring the fact that
〜ということは忘れないようにしつつ、という意味。
例：We need to prioritize what to do, not ignoring the fact that we have to get through everything on our agenda.
