キレッキレ英語第5段、いよいよ折り返しです！今回のテーマは「日本語特有の表現を伝える」です！”これは確かになんていうんだ！？”っていう表現が多く、大変ためになりました！紙面の関係で10個しか紹介できませんが、もし残りも気になった人がいれば以下リンクからkindleのページに飛べます！

①with style
“粋な”という表現をされていました。関連する表現で”That is not my style”というのありますね。
例：He does everything with style!
②figure something out
“無理やりなんとかする”という意味。manage it somehow、などの表現も合わせて覚えたいところ。
例：It is unreasonable request, but I’ll figure something out.
③go through the proper channel
筋を通す、仁義を切る、という表現。仁義を切るって、どの会社でもいうんですかね。。。？
例：They need to go through the proper channels to get a peaceful settlement.
④thrive on adversity
逆境をバネにする、という表現。
例：She seems to thrive on adversity and turns it into success.
⑤work exactly where it matters
“痒いところに手が届く”という表現。商社は結構自身の強みをこういったりするんですが、同僚と”これって英語でなんていうん？I can scratch you where you feel itchy?”とかいってふざけてました笑
例：The new policy works exactly where it matters.
⑥put it behind me
水に流す、という意味。すぎたことを忘れる、という意味でも使えそうです。
例：What happened happened, so there’s no going back. I’ve already put it behind me.
⑦too late to bring it up
後出しジャンケン、今更言うな、といった感じの表現。今更？は日本語の日常表現でもかなり使われる表現ですよね笑
例：It’s too late to bring it up. What’s done is done, and you can’t change it now.
⑧unwanted favor/unwelcome favor
ずばり”ありがた迷惑”。表現はそのまんまですが、こういう表現方法があるということを知っているといざという時便利かも。（先ほどの今更、と合わせてちょっととげのある表現が多いですが、、、）
例：It’s such an unwanted favor, though. She just does this to get likes on social media.
⑨like there is no tomorrow
死に物狂いで、将来のことなど考えずにという意味。Wild。
例：Spend money like there is no tomorrow.
⑩wishful thinking
希望的観測。これもストレートな表現ですが、使えると便利なことが多そうです。
例：Stop being delusional. That’s just your wishful thinking.
